If there are two things Gonzaga basketball has proven to Spokane and to the world, they are these:

1.  In response to the age-old question, “Who loves short shorts?” there are only two legitimate answers: John Stockton and runners.
2. The mere mention of Adam Morrison evokes one disturbing image more than any other: a patchy, dirty ‘stache.

And what happens when you combine two of the greatest things the Inland Northwest has to offer? If you said 3-on-3 figure skating you’d be wrong--though that would explain a triple axel and triple salchow better than Scott Hamilton ever did.

Try this one on, all you math-letes:

(SHORT SHORTS + DIRTY ‘STACHE) ^ BEER CHUG + MUD = THE DIRTY DASH

If you need a TI-85 to figure out that equation, let us know. We scored in the triple digits on our SATs... collectively.

So Nair them, wax them, shave them or bare them in pasty white glory, but get ready to expose those legs to the earthy elements of The Dirty Dash Spokane. But this isn’t just a competition that can be won by any old Mexican Hairless, you’ll win more prizes for sporting the Dirtiest ‘Stache than the pastiest legs or fastest time. Not only could you take home an extra beer, a hoodie, or a good-game butt pat, it might be the only way you maintain any self-respect after wallowing in the mud with us.

So start growing your Fu Manchu, Handlebar, Franz Josef, Mutton Chops or Chin Puff today. Or combine them into one massive Fu-bar-Puff-Chop….sounds like a new form of mixed martial arts. WAAT-CHAAA!

Photos

We don’t want you to destroy your latest, greatest electronic devices during the race so we’ll have photographers from Flo-Foto present taking pictures throughout the race as well as at the finish line.  Photos will be available a couple days after the race for pretty ‘durn’ affordable prices and are searchable by bib number or last name.  Click HERE to go to their site.

If you want to go it alone, we recommend a good buddy trotting along side you, a zip lock bag to keep your camera safe and mud free, and slow shutter speeds.

Shoe Donation

Let’s be frank: your shoes are going to be a muddy mess after the race and if you want to do some good rather than taking hours with a toothbrush to clean them off, don’t even bother cleaning them one bit cuz our charities will be accepting shoe donations by the showers.  All of these shoes will be used to help the less fortunate in the US and in developing countries.

Piglet Plunge

The Piglet Plunge will be the highlight of your child's summer, their storied running careers and potentially their existence to this point. They must be over age 2 and under age 12 to run in the kids' race and you’ve got to accompany them the whole way.

The Piglet Plunge will be about 1 mile and will include some of the best obstacles to ensure a thoroughly muddy child: the Slop n' Slide, the Hog Wash and the Pig Sty. All children must be respectful of other children, pushing or splashing will result in being removed from the kids' race area for the day and subject to grounding at their parents’ discretion.

You’ll need to sign a waiver for them before they receive a sweet Dirty Dash Tattoo (temporary of course) to show that they can participate on race day. The Piglet Plunge will begin at 3:00 pm (80 minutes after the final adult wave starts).

Charity

Peak 7 Peak 7 targets youth who are underprivileged or have been labeled "at-risk". We provide a positive alternative to the typical behaviors and habits that youth in our society often fall into.

Peak 7 takes youth on whitewater rafting and kayaking, rock climbing, and backpacking trips to challenge them spiritually, mentally and physically, encouraging them to evaluate what they put their faith in. These once-in-a-lifetime opportunities have an immeasurable impact on the participants and promote all-around healthier lifestyles.

Peak 7 Adventures is a grassroots outdoor adventure non-profit organization aimed at taking young people into the wilderness to show them the wonder of God's creation. Wilderness adventures challenge participants to expand their horizons by fostering trust relationships and team building skills.
