Whether you're Catholic, Protestant, Mormon, Rastafarian or Buddhist, at the end of The Dirty Dash you'll all have to confess to God that you're a filthy mess in need of forgiveness.

Your whole lives you've been told what you can't do: Don't run with scissors, don't sneeze or your heart will stop, don't "mess with Sasquatch," don't sell WMDs to the Ayatollahs. Well it's time to throw away your tissues, dump your Adderall down the toilet and break all the rules.

You're not a bunch of sheep. While the rest of the herd is headed to the salted baths of the Four Seasons, you're headed face-first down a slippery pile of neoprene on the world's longest slip-and-slide. Are the other sheep doing the next 1/2 marathon? Who cares? You won't be able to hear their anguished braying of pain from 13.1 miles of hell. Why? Because your ears will be clogged with 2 inches of Rocky Mountain mud. Instead of cramps, heat exhaustion, and shin splints, you'll wind up with nothing but a big smile on your sloppy face.

So dress-up like a fool, act like a buffoon, finance revolutions, and run like no one's life depends on it... but please don't sell WMDs to the Ayatollahs. They probably got that one right.

By the end of this race you'll be seeing the world through muddy eyes, and believe us, it's brown, and it's beautiful.

Photos

We dont want you to destroy your latest, greatest electronic devices during the race so well have photographers from Flo-Foto present taking pictures throughout the race as well as at the finish line. Photos will be available a couple days after the race for pretty durn affordable prices and are searchable by bib number or last name. Click HERE to go to their site.

If you want to go it alone, we recommend a good buddy trotting along side you, a zip lock bag to keep your camera safe and mud free, and slow shutter speeds.

Piglet Plunge

The Piglet Plunge will be the highlight of your child's summer, their storied running careers and potentially their existence to this point. They must be over age 2 and under age 12 to run in the kids' race and youve got to accompany them the whole way.

The Piglet Plunge will be about 1 mile and will include some of the best obstacles to ensure a thoroughly muddy child: the Slop n' Slide, the Hog Wash and the Pig Sty. All children must be respectful of other children, pushing or splashing will result in being removed from the kids' race area for the day and subject to grounding at their parents discretion.

Youll need to sign a waiver for them before they receive a sweet Dirty Dash Tattoo (temporary of course) to show that they can participate on race day. The Piglet Plunge will begin at 3:00 pm (80 minutes after the final adult wave starts).

Youth Making a Difference The mission of Youth Making a Difference is to provide leadership training and practical experiences that make a difference in the world, transforming the lives of the participants and those they serve.

The results of the YMAD Leadership Training are based on 7 values of leadership. During the year the teens learn about leadership and how to make a difference in the world from educators, mentors and guest speakers. They apply leadership skills in practical ways, such as working with children in local schools to improve their ability to speak English, or humanitarian expeditions in a developing country to work with children in rural schools to get needed medical care and learn English. The planning, fund raising and execution of these projects gives the teens hands-on experience in taking responsibility, working as a team, serving others, developing a vision, tackling tough assignments, doing research, inspiring each other, and sticking to their commitments. After the yearlong training, the teens look for ways to use these new skills to make a difference for the rest of their lives.
